Lime Plaster FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Lime plaster is a unique material made from limestone that offers exceptional durability and a luxurious finish. Unlike traditional plaster, which may contain gypsum or cement, lime plaster is breathable, allowing moisture to escape, making it ideal for fireplaces and feature walls.
The cost of lime plastering can vary depending on factors such as the size of the area, the complexity of the design, and the chosen finish. As it is a luxury finish, it can be on the pricier end, however, when compared to feature walls such as masonry it is generally much cheaper. See our Pricing Page for more information.
Lime plaster finishes require minimal maintenance compared to other materials. Regular dusting and occasional cleaning with a soft cloth and warm water are usually sufficient to keep lime plaster surfaces looking their best. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
The Okanagan region experiences a diverse climate, with hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. Lime plaster's breathable properties make it well-suited to this climate, allowing moisture to escape during humid summers and preventing damage from freezing temperatures in the winter.
